Workshops & Special Events
Join Roe Johnson for two hours of deep relaxation and healing. In this workshop we will arrive and center with a seated meditation to help us settle into long held and supported poses. With each shape we will find comfort, support and ease to facilitate relaxation of your body and your mind. Roe will assist you in setting up your props to find your deepest comfort.
Throughout class Roe will offer healing and loving touch to those interested in receiving it. We will have consent cards available to you so your space is respected.
Restorative yoga depends upon the use of props to fully support your body in each position. This workshop is limited to 20 students to ensure everyone has access to the support they need.

(Re)connect to your self, your community, and your routines this fall. Join Chelsea Spicer for this two-part workshop that combines Lunar Yoga and a Moon Circle to sync with the lunar cycle and embrace intentional living.
The New Moon is dark and receptive, a perfect time for new beginnings. Lunar Yoga during this phase is a restorative practice that takes you inward to plant seeds of intention for what you desire to manifest in your life.
A Moon Circle is an ancient tradition of gathering on or around the New Moon to share stories, create ritual, and support one another through heart-centered community. This circle is an opportunity to find radical connection: connection to nature through the cycle of the moon, connection to one another, and connection to your inner self. The circle will begin with an introduction to the themes of this particular new moon, and may include journaling, guided visualization or meditation, breath work, mantra, check-ins and sharing, ritual, and intention setting.
Working with the lunar cycle invites you to bring more awareness and intention to the way you move through the world. As part of this sacred circle of sisters and brothers, you get to make abundance your default and cultivate more self-love, clarity, and connection every time you look up at the moon!

About Awakening Yoga Academy
Awakening Yoga is a progressive practice style rooted in Hatha Vinyasa yoga with an emphasis on functional and creative movement practices . We developed this practice style over years of seeing the many diverse bodies in the yoga practice while teaching all over the world. Our goal has always been to pay homage to the traditional ritual nature of the practice, deep respect for the philosophy and history of Yoga, and incorporating modern movement patterns for today's bodies and minds.
We work with 4 baseline practices (Solar Vinyasa, Lunar Mobility, Restore, & Strength) which uphold the principles & foundations of Awakening Yoga, while encouraging creativity & freedom from the individual teacher(s). This 200 hour Foundational program focuses on the Solar Vinyasa and Restore pillars of Awakening Yoga.
*Lunar Mobility & Strength are addressed in depth during our Advanced 300 hour program.
What is Solar Vinyasa?
We are all looking for methods of stoking the fire that burns deep within our souls, to find the drive to achieve what we never thought possible, to push through adversity, to overcome obstacles, and be in the fiber of our true being. The Awakening Yoga Solar Sequence is a new map for movement through the traditional vinyasa yoga practice. You will have the opportunity to take your asana in many new directions as you begin to understand how to train your physical system to stand with power in our ever changing world.
This Awakening Yoga Foundational Teacher Training will focus on mastering the Solar Vinyasa Sequences, learning how to adapt and adjust it for your needs as a teacher or student, and help you to chart a course into sharing yoga with confidence, clarity, and purpose.
What is Restore?
Our bodies and minds are designed to ache for balance - and our nervous systems quite literally crave it. Whether it shows up as fatigue, frustration, or burn out - we are getting the messages that we need to slow down, we just may not be listening to them.
The Restore portion of our training focuses on the necessary balance between effort and ease. We will explore the functions of a regular Restorative Yoga Practice, the science of the nervous system, and effective sequencing. Diving deep into the use of props, breathwork, and simplicity to support students through the journey into ease.
